Deep Impact Youth Missions Camp Missionary

Deep Impact Youth Mission Camps give students and their leaders an opportunity to participate in mission projects during the day and grow in the backdrop of a camp experience. Summer missionaries will be a key part of making these weeks a success. This mission opportunity is a ministry sponsored by NC Baptist Men.

 There are 5 types of staff positions available for 13 summer missionaries with Deep Impact. 

Summer missionaries will help maintain and run the Deep Impact Camps throughout the summer. We will have 2 traveling teams of 5, an office manager and 2 staff at the Red Springs Mission Camp. Summer staff will begin with training on Monday, June 4.  Summer employment will end on August 11.  The Deep Impact Summer calendar consists of 14 Deep Impact projects over a 10 week period.  Summer staff will actually work for 8 weeks with the option of a 9th week.  There will also be a non-paid week off in July.  Salary is $200 per week. We also provide all lodging and most meals.  One team will spend 2 weeks in New York City and a few staff members will travel to Honduras.  A required training weekend will be held April 27-28, 2012.  A complete explanation of summer work weeks and other details will be explained at the Summer Missions Interview weekend, January 20-21, 2012.

Position Details

CAMPUS LIFE COORDINATOR (1 position per team)

The Campus Life Coordinator will be responsible for the “camp” aspects of Deep Impact.  The CLC will maintain the campus mail, canteen, and organize free time activities each afternoon for Deep Impact participants.  The CLC will be responsible for the set-up and break down each week of the campus mail area, canteen, and free time activities.  The CLC will keep the camp information board up to date each day so that campers are aware of what is going on throughout the week.  The CLC will also have training responsibilities for all sports mission project teams.  All other staff will assist the CLC as needed and required.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY COORDINATOR (1 position per team)

The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will be responsible for training the teams working in children’s missions throughout the week, as well as maintaining the supplies and materials that each of the Children’s mission teams need.  The CMC will rotate sites as necessary based on the need of the teams.  All other staff will assist the CMC as needed and required.

WORSHIP LEADERSHIP (2 positions per team)

Worship Leadership will be responsible for communicating with each worship speaker in preparation for each week of Deep Impact.  WL will be responsible for all music, video (including mission offering), flow of worship, etc. in consultation with the speaker.  WL will be responsible for maintaining all sound and stage equipment, the set-up/take down of equipment as well as training other staff members in running such equipment during worship.  WL will lead worship music, etc.  WL will also be responsible with traveling to mission project sites, taking pictures and loading pictures on DI websites.  Musical abilities, such as guitar and/or piano and voice is required. When needed, WL will also in some cases be required to run supplies to and from mission sites.  All other staff will assist the WL as needed and required.  A DVD of performance skills in instrument/voice must be sent by December 31, 2011 to: Tom Beam, North Carolina Baptist Men, PO Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512.

OFFICE MANAGER (1 position)

The office manager position will begin May 29, 2012 (paid) in the Cary office.  The OM assigns all youth/leaders to mission project teams to each of the 14 DI locations.  The OM, with the assistance of the Assistant Directors, will handle all moneys and receipts, including travel expenses, canteen, mission offering, etc.  The OM will be responsible for communicating to youth leaders and will be the main point of contact for these leaders.  The OM will be onsite at most DI projects.  Traveling between sites will be required and a personal vehicle may be necessary (mileage will be paid).

Red Springs Mission Camp and Deep Impact Support (2 positions)

The Red Springs Mission Camp and Deep Impact Support Summer Missionaries will work at the NC Baptist Men Red Springs Mission Camp all summer. The position will have two purposes; to assist in the overall operation at the mission camp in the duties described below and to assist with the preparation, operation, and follow-up of the 2 Deep Impact events at Red Springs. Mission Camps duties include checking out tools and materials, working with teams, delivering materials, cleaning, mowing grass and other responsibilities as assigned by the Mission Camp Coordinator. The Deep Impact preparation will include mission site preparation, set-up and breakdown of the Deep Impact Camp.  Dates of employment will be Monday, June 4 and conclude on Saturday, August 4, a total of 9 weeks.  Pay will be $200 per week.

Other Staff notes:  In addition to these team members, each team will have a DI Assistant Director that will supervise team members.  AD’s will assist in the interview process.  All staff will be expected to help all other team members when required.  All staff will be cross-trained as well.
