R.A.M. is an interdenominational organization which sponsors a year-round ministry of worship and outreach to vacationers and residents in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northwest NC (Watagua-Avery Counties). R.A.M. provides special summer ministries in campgrounds and to the residents.
The following positions are available:
New Ministry Development Team
Two students will be hired to develop new ministries in the following areas:
Social Ministry works with the R.A.M.'s Rack Thrift Shop, helps sort used clothing, organizes clothing distribution to needy areas of NC and surrounding states, and assists with the on-going operation and ministry of the thrift shop.
Community Service Projects helps needy families or individuals with light carpentry, cleaning, wood cutting, grass cutting, painting, etc. Team visits elderly people & helps discover needs of mountain people, migrants and transients. The team will also work with youth and adult groups (when available) in house painting, weatherizing and minor carpentry repairs. Recipients are usually elderly or infirmed people who cannot provide the cost of labor. They are carefully selected. These projects usually last three to four days, and we host several.
Resort Ministries develops a Christian presence at small campgrounds, leads worship for tourists, and publicizes upcoming R.A.M. events. Staff may also be involved in showing slides and explaining R.A.M. ministries to local churches.
Applicants should be flexible and willing to work long hours.
Other Details
R.A.M. staff serves 10 weeks plus an orientation, May 28-31, 2012. Summer ends August 3. Salary $190 per week. Transportation and housing are provided. Interviews: January 20-21, 2012 (An interview is required). Deadline for applications: December 31, 2011.
